SUNAPEE BOARD OF SELECTMEN
MEETING
7:00 PM Town Office Meeting Room
Monday, July 27, 2009

Present: Stephen White Chairman, William Roach Vice-Chairman, Fred Gallup, Charlotte Brown, Emma Smith Donna Nashawaty Town Manager.
 
Also Present: Katie Richardson Intertown Record, The Cahill Family, The Chandler Family, Tony Bergeron Road Agent, Suzanne Gottling, Peter Urbach, Sgt. Cobb, Officer Puchler, Officer Mastin, Teresa Mastin, Chuck Goyette, Dick Leone, Rem Mastin, Charles Hirshberg, Judy Trow.   

The meeting was called to order by Stephen White, Chairman at 7:00PM

Appointments
•Rodney Chandler Retirement:Chairman White presented Rodney Chandler with a proclamation from the Board of Selectmen noting that July 27, 2009 and every July 27th, hereafter would be designated Rodney Chandler Day. Chief Cahill also presented a plaque from the Sunapee Police Benevolent Association.
•Tony Bergeron updated the Board on the Bridge Aid application submitted to the NH DOT regarding the Lower Main Street Bridge. Tony Bergeron has asked the NH DOT if they would waive the QBS selection process and allow the Town to retain H.E. Bergeron Engineers, Inc. for this project based on the past selection process and work history.

Selectmen’s Action
•Chairman White asked if the Board had anyone that they would like to nominate for the Municipal Volunteer Award. Chairman Smith would like to nominate Walter and Ellie Goddard for the award. Chairman Smith will fill out the necessary paperwork.
•Donna Nashawaty asked the Board for their support in signing the Intermunicipal Agreement for West Central NH Broadband Consortium motion made by Selectman Gallup, seconded by Selectman Roach. All in Favor. Unanimous. Articles of Agreement tabled till Board of Directors in agreement is resolved.
Selectman Roach nominated Robert Gould as the new Library Board Alternate, seconded by Selectman Smith. 4 in Favor. 1 Abstained.  

Chairman’s Report
•Chairman White reminded the Board that on Wednesday, August 5th the Sunapee Gardeners will host the Memorial Reading during the intermission of the band concert. Chairman White will attend on behalf of Board.
•Chairman White bought up the article written by Rem Mastin regarding the unique opportunity the Town of Sunapee has to purchase the Sunapee Center Complex to house its town offices. After some discussion, it was decided that Selectman Gallup and Donna Nashawaty would meet with Claremont Savings Bank to find out some of the options that might be available for this purchase. It was also decided to host a roundtable discussion with representatives from the Library Board and School Board on Monday, August 10th .




Town Manager’s Report
•Donna Nashawaty reviewed the area newspaper numbers: subscribers and cost of ad with the Board.
•Donna Nashawaty updated the Board on the advertising that has been done for the Summer Town Meeting.
•Donna Nashawaty received a letter from the NH Fish & Game Dept. approving the application for the Wildgoose launch boat ramp.
Donna Nashawaty received word over the weekend that the Farmers Market would not be taking place this season. The Farmers Market committee felt there were too many details that needed to be addressed to hold the Farmers Market this year.
•Donna Nashawaty reviewed the list of 2009 exempt parcels with the Board.

Miscellaneous
Discussion about the priority to Perkins Pond that was voted on and passed on the 2009 warrant, while considering the purchase of the Sunapee Center Complex.
